Led by Joey and Jack Hayden the Hayden Family has etched their spot in San Francisco Golf History by their finish as co-medalist in the championship qualifying for the San Francisco City Golf Championship for 2025.
In the 108 years of "The City" there have been many historic moments but this goes really deep. Grandpa Jim and Joe the Dad both played in "The City" and Jim was a tournanament director for a number of years in addition to a co-chair of the SF Junior for 20 + years where Joey and Jack excelled.
Then there is the Family Golf Championship played at Golden Gate Park Golf Course. Between all the possibly combinations of partners for the alernate shot golf event, for Jim, Joe, Joey and Jack, the family has won the championship several times. The Hayden family has two more boys in the golf pipe-line as well.
Joey and Jack are both members of the Santa Clara University Golf team where Grandpa Jim played as well. Jim won the Alameda East Bay Junior Championship back in the day...and Joe, the father of the medalists played college golf at Chico State. Joey won the 2024 NCGA Stroke Play Championship. In 2024, Joey won his second Olympic Club Junior Championship with his younger brother Jack the runner-up.
Jack made a 15-foot putt on the 18th hole Sunday at TPC-HardingPark to tie his brother after hitting a wedge to that very tough hole. The good news...in match play Joey and Jack will be in different brackets and will only meet in the finals at this point.
With 64 players in the Championship bracket anything can happen but on March 23, my bet is it will be an exciting final and you'll likely see a Hayden or two in the finals.
