Know your putter path, it's key

Recently I observed some amateur golfers putting strokes and was able to see how the path of their putter was causing some issues.

At the American Century golf event at Lake Tahoe this was a rare opportunity to see the putting stroke of not-so-good golfers on television. In the event you could really see the difference as the top players had good putting fundamentals.

A big thing I noticed was the path of the club as as it moved toward the target. On the lesser players, the path would generally move left of the target possibly a deceleration. The better players had the path stay on a proper path toward the target. I think of this like driving a nail with a hammer. The momemtum is really important as you slow down at impact point the face angle of the club will change, keep the club moving.
