Get your game ready for Spring.

By. John K. Abendroth

Have you been sitting around watching it rain, or watching too much football, well Spring is just a swing away and I have some ideas on how to get your golf game ready to play.

Think about getting your grips changed. Depending on how often you play this is very important and during the year, take a damp towel to them on a regular basis. Fred Couples does it before every shot. He does not wear a glove, so it is more important for him.

How about clean out your golf bag...any candy wrappers, odd golf ball found looking for yours? Good idea to get off to a fresh start.

You can practice your putting indoors on the carpet that can be very helpful. Hey, you can do that with the games on TV. Consider a great new training aid, The Putter Key, www.putterkey.com

Easy to use, very portable and affordable. You can use the case as a target. The Putter Key helps with club face alignment, centering the ball and my favorite is to follow the arrow toward the disc on the back stroke to help perfect your swing path. Use it prior to practice on the course by starting with a straight 6 foot putt.

This off time during the winter and early spring does not need to be lost time for your golf game, get ready to roll when your golf season starts and you will be a step ahead of your golf mates...enjoy.
