Many story lines this week, with Graeme McDowell the defending champ saying on Tuesday morning that he has a funny feeling that he will contend this week. He is glad that all of his media and defending champion duties are out of the way...no more talking and now it is golf that he can focus on.
He has great memories of his win at Pebble with his Father there on Father's day and with all of the near firsts, with being the first Irishman to win the U.S. Open etc...
But with memories nothing is stronger than Ken Venturi winning in 1964 a mear 47 years ago. The 80 year old Venturi has been honored and highlighted this week at Congressional the site of his emotional win. Ken will present the trophy on Sunday afternoon...or Monday if the weather and a playoff dictates.
Weather looks ok, with some rain and thunder predicted.
