The 297th Charlie company, a medical unit of the California National Guard will deploy to Iraq for 14 months in February and for me it is personal as my Wife, Major Rose Abendroth will be in the group being deployed. The unit operates a MASH type field hospital to support the troops on deployment.
Rose is a Physical Assistant for Kaiser in her day job working in Plastic Surgery in their Santa Clara hospital, but has been a member of the 297th for over 10-years.
It is awesome of she and her troops to do what they are doing and I hope you all say a prayer for her and the other troops.
Now a plea to you…
I am part of their Family Support and Family Readiness team which helps give support to the families of the troops and the troops them selves. We send packages to Iraq, we have a picnic in the summer to boost morale for the families and will have a going away ceremony for the troops. For all of this we try to raise some funds. Any help would be great, and we will send you an elegant rubber bracelet for a suggested donation of $5 (more if you desire) and for donations of $100, $250 or $500 the unit has a news letter where we can provide exposure for you or your company.
The donations can be made out to: CNG-WMA, which stands for California National Guard Warrior Medics Assoc. and is a 501-c-3 non-profit. Checks can be mailed: C/O Hooked on Golf, P.O. 1243 Millbrae Ca. 94030. For info: email@example.com.
You can also go to PayPal and direct a donation to 297FRG@gmail.com.
Thanks very much and think of the troops as they dedicate their time to our country.
