Things you won’t hear at Augusta
Early this week I notified my family that Easter breakfast needs to be done by about 9:30AM. For some, that was not something they wanted to hear.
I got to thinking that when we watch the Masters this week, there are a few things that we will not hear. I thought I’d share a few of these with you.
Gary McCord: It’s too bad Gary was expelled from Augusta and the Masters a few years ago. He’s very dedicated to the game of golf and thinks like many of us do. It was funny to some when he spoke of bikini wax and body bags.
The Crowd: There will be no howls like you hear at the 16th tee at the FBR Phoenix Open. Can you imagine that at 12th tee?
FedEx: Arnold Palmer apparently worked hard to limit the FedEx Cup logos at his event at Bay Hill. Don’t expect to hear the FedEx Cup plugs you’ve been hearing all year from Jim Nantz. And don’t look for a FedEx truck to deliver the green jacket to Butler Cabin…or has it been renamed the FedEx Cabin…I don’t think so. Not at Augusta.
CBS Promos: Don’t look for promos of Kevin James’s show (I can’t remember the name of that show…), or for promos for Survivor Tijuana, or stupid pet tricks on the Late Show with David Letterman (after your late local news…).
Peter Kostis, 18th green sponsor interview: Don’t look for the interview as the winner is walking up 18-fairway with the Director of Marketing for Cadillac or Cialas talking about the great crowds and how much goes to charity. Not at the Masters…
New Date for the Masters: With the new FedEx Cup schedule, don’t look for a fall date for the Masters…it’s just fine where it is.
We see more golf shots from the Masters and CBS does a great job, especially with the assistance by the media committee of Augusta and the Masters.
Happy Easter and enjoy The Masters…
